chaos daemon prince gw mini wip

i have decided to share my wip of this mini as i have started to build up the layers of colour on the flesh.

as alway any comments welcome.

base coat = 50/50 blood red / chaos black
started to build up layers using 5/1 water/blood red so far 12 layers

my method is slower due to the dilution however i feel i get a better blend / build up .

Hey, looks similar to the technique I have tried on reds. I tend to start darker and work up but essentially use a similar style. Are you going to be building up the shades too? I'm really keen to see if you are to increase the depth and add some more contrast to the muscleature. Looks good so far.

yes i defo will be working back on the shading m8

i usually work like this

undercoat skull white / chaos black spray
base coat
build up the block colour ( the flesh in this case )
build up shading transitions
1st highlight ( blazing orange / blood red )
2nd highlight ( blazing orange)
3rd higlight ( blazing orange / bleached bone )
bring extreme eding and highlights back together with a wash / glaze of watered down baal red wash

and thats just for the flesh

all paints are from games

Thats interesting. I use exactly the same colour receipe on my lighter khorne reds but I tend to to a complete block red (usually scab) rather than build up to it and then I shade like you. I don't build up to the block from a darker base and i tend to use a few washes of devlan and badab...maybe with some green or blue glazes towards the end of the paint job. What I do find is that I have an annoying jump between the shade and the base layer and I now need to work on building up the shades rather than just throwing on a wash or two.

Thanks for the step by step :)

Cheers
