Try this though it is uk only http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.uk?do=Individual&code=99209999012&orignav=300810 I don\'t know if they\'ll ship abroad but if not just do what I do and use matt black car body spray from your local Halfords or whatever the equivalent is over there.

well if you can find the equivlant to Krylon ultra flat black that would do nicely, other wise go to an auto parts store and get a can of auto body flat black primer..

Primer is pretty much primer.

Hey, that leads me to a question.

I have horrible luck with spray on primer, so I\'ve gone back to brushing on...

Do you actually NEED primer? Couldn\'t I just paint my minis all black (or white) (or grey) as the case may be using just PAINT? Does it have to be actual primer to get the benefits?

all my LOTR minis are brush primed with Chaos Black paint and it works just as well as spray primer, the only real benefit of using sprays is that the solvent in them easily negates any greasiness and tends to stick better where as paint you realy need to give the minis a good soaking in detergent to get rid of any releasing agents that may still be on them.

That, and from what I understand primers have agents that adhear to metal, while paint does not.

Back in the day, before I knew there was a difference, I used spray paint instead of primer on my minis. The older ones I have chipped like crazy.

Now I use primer for all my minis.

Ditto on getting spray on primer at an Auto shop. Duplicolor Sandable Primers, white or black, are my first choice.

I just moved to Germany.

May I ask where exactly you moved to?

GW Primer can easily be bought from GW shops - yes, we have those here too :D Otherwise, find \"Kodi\" - they sell cheap crap including car primer for one or two €.

I have found that minis sprayed with primer have a better finish than painted undercoat and the paint lasts longer. I have only ever used normal flat primer from a hardware store. They are at least a third of the price and still do the job.

That\'s what I\'d recommend.

Need? No, but they really do help your paintjob to stay put.

Try this comparison sometime:
Get two figures
Clean them
Prime one with a good-quality primer like an automotive primer (cellulose- or acrylic-based, whatever you can find)
Paint directly on the second
Give them a day or so to cure

Now try scraping the paint off with your fingernail... easy to see the difference.
