Canada (Quebec) & Varnish - Need Local Advice!

Salut and Hey guys!

Well, I live in Quebec and was wondering if anyone else out there might be able to lend me some sage advice. I moved here about two years ago now, and I haven\'t had a good reason to get varnish, so when I finally got a good reason to, I went and looked for some. As I looked, I found nothing. There was no Testor\'s Dullcote to be found. So what am I to do? I find the cans are more expensive here, so I don\'t really want to run around spending all my cash on products which I won\'t use or won\'t like the finish of, so hopefully someone can give me some advice.

I\'d like a good varnish that I can get here that isn\'t matte, but isn\'t gloss either. If you know the look of Testor\'s Dullcote, basically I\'d like an alternative to that. Or if there is a number of varnishes that I can use, in layers, to produce the same effect, that would work too.

Any advice would be appreciated! :)

Cheers!

You should be able to find Testors in Quebec. They have it at Walmart in the modelling section, here in Ontario anyway. And just about every single model/train/hobby shop.

If not, the home stores like Wolf Fang suggested should work. It will be hard to find anything as flat as dullcote though.

Also art supply stores like Michaels/Wallacks tend to have this stuff too. The bonus there is the staff can tell you which cans protect well, which cans are glossy or flat, which cans interact with different types of paints, which have UV protection etc.
