Unfortunately it\'s not really the done thing to post up rules on the internet as the owning companies tend to get a bit upset about people giving away their IP for free. Can you not manage to get to somewhere that has a copy of the Dark Angel codex?

If I was playing a really really big game then yeah I\'d use him. Dark Angels are easily good enough that you don\'t need to rely on the named special characters like Azrael and Ezekiel etc. He\'s not amazing but then I wouldn\'t say Marneus was either. The masters of the Deathwing and Ravenwing are more useful as they allow you to have a different army composition.
DA have advantages and disadvantages over vanilla marines in that certain things are much cheaper and they come with some equipment as standard, also you get the combat squads option which I was dubious about to start with but now I think it\'s the best thing to happen to marines in ages. The biggest disadvantage for me comes in the fact that they can\'t add chaplains and librarians to command squads like normal marines can but it\'s hardly the end of the world lol

No army is any better than any other but I like DA, they suit my style of play more than say Blood Angels and I like the fluff and colour schemes too.

You certainly don\'t need to get anything over and above what you get in the standard tactical marines box. DA basically get anything that would cost normal marines under 5 points for free. Tactical squads come with all the grenades for instance and vehicles get spotlights without having to pay for them. All your existing marines ought to fit in OK.

The extras sprues like the veterans and Ravenwing sprues have loads of nice stuff to jazz up your minis so it\'s up to you if you want to make them look more Dark Angely. My advice is to use what you have already to make a core army and then anything new you get you can embelish and personalise as you go.

thanks
this is how i turned into DA
i got some scouts and made them camo and i used DA green for the paints, it looked cool so i painted a few of my characters and then i got the DA veterans a while ago so i want DA now!

I might just buy a couple of sprues from Games Workshop online.

thanks again

any more ideas? I will get round to posting a pic of my librarian terminator

i got it for christmas this year off a friend (although i opened it a week before christmas and was completed by christmas day) i spent about 6 hours on it lol

thanks!!!

Don\'t go with any special characters. Use the miniatures if you like them, but i have yet to see a game that has been made radically better by the inclusion of special characters. it can be a good narrative, or a good special theme to a mission, but i have never used one, never will. I prefer to take a character that i have painted and modelled and not to change him in any battle i play.

I played a guy in GT who fielded 2 phoenix lords. He slapped my SW all over the shop. Was it a good game? No. It was probably the worst game i played at the GT. Best one? Against a plague marine army minimal characters lots of troops and tactics playing a bigger part than powerful figures.

Right, it was gonna have to be someone, might as well be me.

Azrael

Grand master

WS 5 BS 5 S 4 T 4 W 4 I 5 A 4 Ld 10 Sv 2+

Wargear - frag and krak grenades, bolt pistol,
protector,(artificier armour, 2+ save)
lion helm(carried by a helm bearer, must remain as close as possible to him, takes no part in the game as such, just a decorative piece),
sword of secrets(master crafted power sword, strikes at strength 6 in close combat)
lions wrath (master crafted combi plasma gun)

Special - fearless, indepedant, rites of battle

If you want anything else, just buzz me, people are bound to get upset.

Uhh no, nothing like that, but they do get cheaper transport options, rhinos are now down to 35 points, razorbacks to 50, drop pods to 50 also.

They can have combat squads, which means if you take a tactical squad of ten, you can split it in half after deployment to two five man.
But you can only have either five or ten man squads.

Deathwing/Ravenwing obviously, but those are highly special things to use.

Uhhh, thats about the worst of it, without having the codex in front of me.

Worked out what the attacks for having azrael with a command squad, with the dark angels banner, company champion, and all with close combat weapons.

6 men = 37 attacks :flame:

Deathwing is the dark angels first company, only ever fielded in terminator armour, and are basically all terminators, dreadnoughts, land raiders and drop pods. Noone in power armour at all.

Can be really fun to play with, as long as you dont mind being outnumbered about 40974598479586402845:1

Ravenwing are the second company, and are only fielded on either bikes or land speeders, same thing as the deathwing, outnumbered horribly, but a lot faster than basically anything else youll come against.

Both are good cause you dont need a hell of a lot of models to fight a battle, but they are tricky to fight well with.

Wouldnt recommend either till you at least get your feet set in a codex fighting style to begin with, then add a unit of each in to see how they work, and go from there.
