brush on varnish

Hello,

I seem to be having a heck of a time lately with cloudy dullcote, but I have a whole box of vallejo matt varnish in my stock that I could take a bottle out of, I was just wondering how durable it is compared to spray varnishs? I could still spray on gloss varnish and then matt it down with the brush on. Would that be suitable for gaming do you think?

I use to use spray varnish then paint on matt but I\'ve found that the spray stuff sometimes affects my metals. SO now I just use 5 coats of dull coat. Although I have used GW \"Ardcoat and then a few coats of dull coat and that seems to work pretty good.

Good luck

Could anyone possibly tell me how long I should let the paint dry before I use the brush on? I tried it on VMC about 5 minutes after the paint dried and it made some of my blends lift and smear a little. I was using the Reaper Master Series brush on sealer this time because I had a little of it left.

At least a couple of hours but I would go for 24 hours myself. paint doesnt really harden for at least that long.

Good luck.

I use VMC paints & varnishes and always wait several days, generally a whole week, after I\'ve finished painting before applying any varnish. Also, wait at least four hours between coats of varnish to make sure the new coat does not lift the previous coat.

This might sound a like a long delay, but having spent all that time painting a figure I really don\'t want to ruin it when varnishing. Anyway, I usually have so much on the go there\'s always plenty of other figures to paint or convert while waiting.

I go a minimum of 24 hours ..... The spray gloss brush Matt works well for gaming.

Just remember again to leave at least 24 hours after gloss spray before applying brush on.
