What do you usually do when you are painting a mini at first you loved but that after some times, and corrections, of painting, has becomen boring to you and finishing it is just a duty and a pleasure nomore?

Abandon it. I have one half-painted mini and a half-sculpt sitting on my desk right now, I haven\'t touched either in months. I guess I will eventiually finish the sculpt, and strip the mini.

It joins my shelf of WIPs. I doubt I\'ll ever strip any of them, because typically they were pieces on which I practised a new technique, also, there is a definite intent to finish them all. It\'s just a case of what\'s grabbing my immediate attention.

I\'ve tried both methods, plugging away and putting it aside.

I have a whole shelf of minis I have \'put aside\' because I grew bored of them.

The danger of plugging along, for me anyhow, is that I start \'settleing\' for how a part may look, just because I want to finish the freaking thing.

Usually when I set a mini aside I have the intent to finish it, but in the end it\'ll either stand on WIP shelf for ever or go into the stripping jar. It\'s quite hard to pick up a mini you started painting maybe a year ago and continue. Some things you\'ll likely be able to paint much better and some parts you don\'t remember what mix of colours you used...

I often get to that point when painting minis, its around the time when the vast majority of colour choices and coats have been done, and you just begin to think about all the coats that have to be done to get the model finished.
I find the best way to stop this from becoming overwhelming is to make a list of those coats and tick them off as you go along, then you can actually see that you are making progress towards the end, even if the model itself is not changing that much anymore.

All mini which i`we do for myself now in this condition, half painted or half sculpted. When it`s case with comission, this is real pain for me. For this have just one cure - wait a week or two.

Id agree with yellow one. I dont have too many half painted minis. I have a wip shelf but its small and only contains what Im working on. I always put minis that I loose focus on in the middle of my painting desk. Eventually I get whatever inspiration I need (usually its cause I need the space). I hate half painted minis.

If I get bored I\'ll put it away for a while and not look at it. A couple of weeks later I\'ll probably dig it out again and \"look at it with new eyes\". If I still don\'t like it I\'ll probably strip it, and if I think \"hey, that was actually pretty good\", I\'ll probably start painting it again.

As many said before, put it away and do something different. I have a 5 man special-weapon squad on my desk and they seem to cry \"PAINT US! PAINT US!\"
I started converting a Chimera and I\'ll try to get back to my \"men\" next week. ;)

Usually, when I hit a block its because of something thats bothering me even if I\'m not aware of it at the time. I have to put it aside until I figure out what I need to redo.
