Blood Angels

Finally after getting home, setting up a new internet connection, and getting my mini\'s out of storage, I have some here for display.

Most of my army was rushed so I could get a coherent coloured mass moving towards the enemy. This was done 5 to 6 years ago, and I remember them looking a lot better back then. I guess now that i\'ve seen what people can do, I realise my effort was nothing.

Anyways please have a vote and feel free to comment, sadly none of these are finished, and I know they all suffer from the use of un-thinned paint, but I would welcome any other critisism or advice.

Here goes:

Assault Sgt

Flamer

Las-Connon Dude

Mephiston

Sgt Decal

Thanks heaps :)

First of all i would add some highlights to the pink armour and the face.
The thickness of the paint is a wee bit thick, add a little bit more water into it
Also highlight the black

My 2 Cents
Anyways, Voted, Good luck on the pointers:D

Thanks.

Pink armour? It\'s a deep red, I guess I have a lot of work to do on my photography too.

When you say highlight, do you mean blend in highlights? or highlight lines around the edges?

Also with the thick paint, do I have to jst strip the model and start again, or is there a way of fixing it?

Thanks.

needs highlights and shading on the armour. The flames need to be redone as they dont cover completely. Mould lines aarrrgggg I hate them. Get rid of them as well. FOr a table top army tho they are OK.

I find the best thing to do with my old painted minis is to keep them as a baseline to improve from.
Obviously the paint is to thick on these figures as you yourself stated.
Thinning the paint is the number one step to improving your painting level. Once you get smooth even paint on the model it will instanly look so much better.

I really like the flame motif and green stuff conversions on one of your minis, that was nicely done.

Hey, thanks Talonicus, i\'ll see what I can do with some of my other mini\'s.

I\'ve run into one slight problem though, I grabbed two large boxes of my gear from storage, they seem to have both my 40k and fantasy armies... but no paints :(

I\'ll have to arrange another trip to find them I guess, or maybe just buy some more. I\'ve found a place around the corner from me that sells Vallejo paints, but they all seem to be pastels, is that normal? What colours do I want from that range to highlight red?

Thanks..

Well to start with the colours you are going to need most are the primary and tertiary colours and black and white.

With these you can mix up just about any colour or shade going. Obviously the more colours you have the quicker and easier it becomes to get the exact scheme you visualise for your minis.

For red highlighting on a blood angel i would head to the orange/yellow end of the spectrum. Red mixed with white will probably become too pink.

Hope this helps.
