Best material for scratchbuilding a vehicle body?

I have designed a robot for a 100% scratchbuilding project for use as a proxy dread.

The question is what to use for mass? A vehicle like a rhino is relatively easy because it\'s mainly walls.

Sheet styrene and plastic tubes are good for outer surfaces, but what\'s best for bulking out the body?

This seems simple and perhaps I\'m over-complicating it, but I want to be able to cast the parts once I make them.

Foamcore is very easy to work with, but it\'s too porous to mold.

foam core and styrene foam i\'d say. build the styrene sheets over the top of that. that should give it enough strength and still be light

Cheap and castable?
I\'d have to agree with Shawn R.L.

If money is no object, resin is very durable:D
And Dremel tools are so much fun to work with!

Balsa? Polystyrene? FIMO? Clay?
Old empty boxes or containers of roughly the right shape and dimension?

You could use anything really, as you\'re going to build up the shape around it.
