Basing the Beast-How to base the new FW GUO

Hi, yesterday I saw the new Forge World Greater Deamon and I completly fell in love with it:drool: As a follower of the foul path of gran daddy Nurgle I just have to order it. So tomorrow I\'m gonna preorder this beast, together with the DG Dread:D I just don\'t have any creative thoughts on the base. I will be using a 12cm CD as this is about the only thing this biggie will fit onto. I have a collection a basing materials such as realistic water, long grass, foilage, static grass, ferns, tiny mushrooms, slate, cork, woodchip, you name it! Posts with cool piccies in them get cookieslol And for those how haven\'t seen the model:

That\'s one mean mofo!

However, I\'d try to get something other than a CD for the base. Something you can actually get a grip on in order to move that big boy without having to constantly pick up the \"mini\" itself (and ruin your paintjob). Or just hit him with lots of Hardcoat, shouldn\'t even look half bad on this one...

Depending on how much space he leaves on the base, go for fine gravel, leaving space for some pools of goo (white glue/ colored realistic water). For those you can use cut up plastic beads (or rolled up gs) to make bubbles. As You\'re doing him up 40k style, feel free to add corpses to the goo, as well as a couple of corroded bits to the base. Oh, and Nurglings wouldn\'t hurt as well... Basically go nuts depending on the available space he leaves on the base.

This model is successfuly disgusting! It is freaking huge compare to the last model. I like it better.

Rightm ideas for the base....hmmm...let me think....

I would go, depending on the weight of the model with foamcore. Foamcore you can cut to the desired size and reinforce with plasticard if needed which owuld still be fairly strong and light.

Sorry my great idea light bulb is a bout 1/2 watt stron so it is completely extinguished now.......??? Mike

Buy a proper base good strong wood.

i\'d use either the cd or mdf. as for texure. fine sand, no living foliage. maybe lots of bones/bits of bones. and lots of nurglings crawling over them and playing with them

To base this beast, I would find a decent picture frame, (either rectangular or oval in shape) can have fancy or plain surrounds- your choice. Then I would put clay or putty onto the glass then texture and add details from there. It will make a fantastic display base this way too.

Definatley agree with freakingace- no living foilage, his sheer prescence (and odour!) would have killed it off!

Definitely go with a very solid base. You can pic up deco bases just about anywhere. I would go for the swamp base but it may have been done to death.

It is one ugly Mother tho. Post the final pic.:D
