After a couple of years away from the hobby, I have decided to start painting again. Unfortunately I recently gave away all my painting stuff, everything from models and paints to brush soap and drill bits (except my trusty hobby knife), so I have to start from scratch. Although it is a bit daunting (and expensive) it is also kind of nice to start from a clean slate.
Before I have almost exclusively painted Warhammer 40k miniatures (although I don’t play), but this time around I thought I would throw in a few other miniatures for the hell of it. There are so many nice ones out there and sometimes the grim darkness of the far future gets a little too… grim. For those reasons my first purchases has been a couple of boxes of Chaos Cultists for practice purposes and Steampunk Arielle by Guild of Harmony, which seems like a very nice model (and I’ve wanted to try my hands on “wet t-shirt” painting, which her dress seems perfect for). The cultists are on my shelf and Arielle is in the mail from Australia (I wonder what the delivery time is from Australia to Denmark).
I’ve put together a list of what I need to get a good start (feel free to remind me of stuff I have left out):
Vallejo Model Air Gray Primer
Vallejo Game Color Introduction Set
Milliput
Sand paper
Files
Brushes (2, 0, 00)
Brush cleaner
Brush soap
This should get me the tools to get a little practice. I don’t live near any good hobby stores so I buy all my stuff online, which means I usually buy in bulk to save on shipping. The best couple of online shops I have come across (fair prices and a good selection) are Battlefield Berlin and Wayland Games, but if you know of any other good ones in northern Europe let me know
And merry Christmas, by the way.
