AH under Hasbro is not producing any of the classic AH games, and for proper war games you now need to look to companies like GMT. Hasbro-AH initially did product Diplomacy and Acquire, but these are no longer in production, either. H-AH has instead produced several decent games that don\'t have much appeal at all for the original hardcore war game AH audience but which are worth trying if you like other types of games. It\'s also produced several completely crappy games that don\'t have any appeal to anyone. Sword and Skull is a pretty bad pirate game that even regular mall shoppers can smell the stink of and go no where near. Rocketville is a very poor area majority game, don\'t be fooled by Richard Garfield\'s name on the cover.
Betrayal at House on the Hill is a good game, but definitely download the FAQ as dougaderly suggested. It was rushed into production and the game books are riddled with typos and omissions. Vegas Showdown is a pretty good game. It\'s not a gambling game knockoff, rather it\'s competing to build the best casino. Nexus Ops is a good Risk level combat game. Unlike Risk, it\'s got a built-in countdown so the game won\'t go on much beyond two hours. The board is built of hexes so it changes up each game, and there are game mechanics that make turtling a not very good strategy and so keep things moving.
I have no idea why Hasbro kept the AH name but made the decision not to produce AH style games, but rather use the brand to market a very mixed game range in that some seem like they\'re supposed to appeal to the average person, some to the hobby gamer, and some to the designer game fan. From what I can tell as a designer game player and worker in the retail game market the past couple of years, the strategy has not been particularly successful, and the only big sellers are Axis & Allies and the Risks.
