Atlanta GD winners

I suppose I should choose words carefully as I know that there are a fair few cmon posters who placed at Atlanta, but I\'ve never been particularly tactful, so sod it...

Good grief there is some absolute filth in the winners galleries!

Perhaps the photos aren\'t doing them justice, perhaps the other entries were really cack, but some of them, particularly 2nds and 3rds look ragged beyond belief. What the heck is going on?

Or is it just me?

yep... there are some horrible things... especially in the staff... (the saxon\'s mini was my fav... a lot better than the slayer [???????????????:|~:|~:|~:|~] one)

That is very harsh.
I agree that the photos on GW website are terrible but I know from my own crap photos that a poor picture can make a big big difference.

I blame that.

Nope. Not just you. I am not sure if some are the paintjob, or it is the photos. If it is the photos, then they are definately NOT showing off the quality of the miniatures like they ought to be.

Ooh, and what was the third in Open that got disqualified? Did I miss that mentioned in the whole hoohaa about entering with purchased efforts?

If it was someone who entered with someone elses mini they should post their picture up there so we can throw things at them if we ever see them...

I seem to be in a jolly mood tonight, I guess that\'s what being in bed all day with the flu will do to you!

I have seen several demon winners in person and I know that they almost always look way better in person than in a photograph. I will say that overall many of the Atlanta winners don\'t stack up to other recent US Gamesday competitions. At the end of the day as many of the painters have said it really comes down to what the judges thought on that day.

if we are going for not being very tactful

find the other thread and keep all the trash talking in one place its useless hashing it up all the time, its in the Convention section, go frolic with the others who are doing the same thing

I think there is another thread as to which this topic was discussed, while i\'m normally not one to gripe about multiples of the same thread, I believe that its not neccessary to cut down CMONers at 2 places at once.

Fair dos, I did have a glance around for similar things before posting and saw nothing. I have never ever visited the Conventions thread! As I said, I\'ve been flu ridden for days so I haven\'t been online really either.

I guess my opening made it sound like I was out to cause bother, I wasn\'t and I\'m not trying to scythe down cmoners. I was at Atlanta GD in 04 and some of the stuff there wowed me. This year I was hoping for the same and I\'m bloody disappointed it hasn\'t. That\'s about it really. I was just kinda hoping for a \'don\'t worry, the pictures are crap\' comment.
