AT-43 repaints anyone?

If anybody has tackled one of the Golgoths or other large armoured vehicles, was wondering did you strip and repaint or just paint over?

Also, I\'ve only seen photos so I was wondering what the quality of the castings is like in the flesh.

Thanks in advance.

I haven\'t tackled any of the large AT-43 vehicles, but I did do a character :

And here\'s one of Rob\'s :

In my case I acetoned it before repainting it. That was a bit extreme at first for the plastic (went soft, but hardened once dry).

The casting is OK, but not as good as the Confrontation metals or the AT-43 resins.

The major pain is getting rid of the mold lines since the plastic is \"gummy\". I found it easier to prime it, clean up the mold lines and reprime it. The primer seems to solidify the outer part of the plastic.

Hi Einion!

The figures are a softer plastic compared to the walkers and vehicles.....

I tried a similar thing to Cedric and found the plastic soften on the figure, so stopped; the paint is so thin I simply primed the figure.

The Vehicles are a harder plastic more like a regular plastic kit. Again, the paint is very thin - It\'s even possible to break them down into their component parts - it\'s then possible to remove mould lines in the conventional way......

I know Fix has a few repaints in his gallery, and on his blog:

Been drooling over them for a while now and it seems a good time to fork out since they\'ve come down so much in price ($10 or $15 for most, versus €30-40)

I\'m planning on buying from Miniature Market unless I hear anything negative about them shipping to Europe.

Thanks - if I strip I was planning on using something different but good to know, just in case I need to resort to acetone.

Wonder if the same plastic is used for the vehicles that\'s used for the figures? I\'d guess from pics that it\'s harder (styrene).

No problem on my last order to my part of the world, so I assume it is the same deal for Europe.
Oversea shipping is quite high, as usual for U.S. company base on my experience. My order was around $45, and the shipping was $23. But as half of my order were from their close out deal, still end up cheaper if I was to get it from other place.

I\'ve got a few, but haven\'t tried a repaint.

The little walker I have...The Fire Toad, I believe. The cool thing about that is that I cut open the cockpit area to find a completely DETAILED interior....It\'s friggin cool as hell.
