Hi, I haven\'y played since 2nd/3rd edition. Can you still use assassins\' with a SM army? I bought a vindicare as I love the model, but don\'t think I can use it any more.

I also have some lascannon tarantula guns from space crusade, can these be used, or would they be used in apocolypse only?

can anyone enlighten me

Assassins come from either of the Inquisition books now and are used as allies so you\'re OK there.

I seem to remember that Tarantulas are included in Imperial armour Vol.2 and function much like IG sentry guns from Vol.1.

Yeah Tarantula\'s are now produced by Forge World so you will find the rules in one of their books.

Does that mean I could use them?

There\'s no way I\'m paying £40-50 for one of those books, so have never read any of them.

Are the assassins still kick ass, or have they made them crap in 5th ed?

Yes .

Again yes, but you are limited with which armies can have them as allies.

You have to have an inquisitor to take assassins, unless that ruile doesn\'t matter for allies.

depends how anal you want to be about the rules as it says to use the latest version of the codexes blah blah blah and well unless you are fielding something else from an inquisition force you only need to own codex assassins rather than codex wh or codex dh in which case an inquisitor isn\'t needed since there was no mention of needing to field an inquisitor to take an assassin back in codex assassins so a space marine army could field an assassin without the need for an inquisitor

and technically a dh or wh hunters army could too as they can ally with any imperial force which assassins are though though this wouldn\'t allow them to field more than one assassin no matter how many force organisational charts they use unless it\'s a game of apoc in which case you wouldn\'t need the inquisitor anyway as you can just say they are allies

unless there has been some errata i\'ve not seen ?

If you don\'t care about the rules, you can obviously do anything you like, but I think the OP was asking in context of the current rules.

The rules do state that you must have an Inquisitor in your force to field an Officio Assasinorum agent. This applies to allies as well, which means you would have to take an Inquisitor Lord (the HQ choice) and a small retinue (minimum 3) to field him.

You can, as stated earlier, use either the Witch Hunters Codex or the Daemonhunters Codex to find these rules. I suggest the Daemonhunters, because then you have rules for the very cool Grey Knights at hand as well.
