Yeah the point definitely gets across, well done! I think in general it lacks a bit of muscular and anatomic definition even if it's not bad by any means. I don't know if you did this but try to get the basic geometric shapes in place first, simplify it do rounded boxes or cones. Then sculpt a simplified version of the musculature and finally add clothes and stuff. Going in several steps helps understanding anatomy and building a more convincing miniature.

Yep, i definitely think you're going in the right direction. The body works for me, as he seems to be a very thin fella, but the face is a bit off. Not sure exactly what. The eye is too big, and the head just kinda looks like it's just there, not attached or anything.

Sculpting is very rewarding, and very challenging. Keep at it, you're doing great!

PS....really like that forum you mentioned too....Looks like a good place to lurk (i'm kinda shy and don't like to post alot)

Its a good start, the character you have designed is pretty interesting to look at, the boots dont go with the rest of the design. I would do biker boots or shorter combat boots.

I pretty much work on the fly straight out of my head to. It is challenging but i have learned it is also unwise unless you know what you are doing already. The most awesome Frank Frazetta (RIP) was known for working with no models or reference, but he had a working knowledge of anatomy and everything beforehand. I don't and I have recently come to the conclusion in order to get better at sculpting i need to focus on good anatomy and good character design alot more. So to aid this i have picked up my pencils again and now do more drawing to quickly practice my anatomy so i remember it when i sculpt. Beleive me, it will help you to do this as well. It is definately the most efficient way to work - on the fly, no models or reference, but you have to have that knowledge first in order to do it well.
