Any pointers?

Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum, and this site! I can't wait to get to know more of the site and what goes on here.

I'm looking for any advice, critique or pointers in improving my painting. I've put some photos below of how I paint. I have a certain 'style' which I really enjoy, but I'm always looking to improve and learn new things. I want to paint in a bold and dynamic way, so I like quite bold and sharp colours and contrasts.

Any feedback would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

I very much like this style. It's a more natural feel and has a realness about it.

I do think, however, that the spots on the horses are distracting, and pull me away from the realism. Maybe a dark wash to blend them in better?

Thanks for the comments! I really appreciate the feedback.

I'm glad you like the style, what you describe is what I'm going for really.

I agree with the spots and I'll try a more toned down approach in future I think. I can find it hard to make something natural yet striking, and I guess sometimes it tips away too far, like you've mentioned.
