Any news?

I saw that there were demos run at Gencon for the Phoenix edition. Did anyone who played one have any comment? I'm curious as to how the game will work with both round and square bases. My collection is a mix of both, though generally the same within a faction.

Don't forget all the pictures of any new models as well (he says with drool spilling from the corner of his mouth).

MAN FML i typed an whole post and poof......gone

anyways at the bottom of this is a link to another thread on this forum where some details were posted. In a nut shell, New system, new cards, square bases (Thank god) altered wound system (terrible), and modified points values.

I read somewhere that the wound levels were being altered to a more set # of wounds per model instead of the existing combat modifiers based on wound level. i think this is horse shit personally because if you think about it in reality when a fighter is hurt his combat abilities are altered based on how significantly he is wounded. The old system was true to that with the increasing modifiers, it also will impact a good number of skills, spells, and abilities that are directed at wound levels and modifiers. The exisiting system is fantastic in bringing the level of strategy and flavor to a great skirmish game in the sense of how your going to operate with that model, defensively, offensively, maneuvers, etc.it also brings it to close to the squad based army system which is terrible because one of the draws is the skirmish feel, livelihood and experience of individual model play.

if they are changing the card system too much and dont plan on rereleasing existing models (atleast not until later waves as stated in interviews from march or april) they should certainly release complete army card packs to be used with existing models to support the old guard with many models and armies already. it would be a bad move imo to spurn the cult following the game has by forcing the new purchase just for the cards. from an income stance that seems solid but in reality its the old guard who are waiting with bated breath that will be the heralds of the games success bringing all their stuff out of storage and getting their local gaming groups into it which in turn will spear head new model, content, etc. purchases.

just my 2 Lincolns and im right there with you all waiting excitedly for more news. they stated early on that it would be roughly a 6 -9 month wait and we are rounding on the six month mark so hopefully some more soon.

*sigh* yeah, I saw that thread. I was hoping for a bit more info. My guess is that it'll go to kickstarter after relic knights is done. That'd make sense from a "coolminiornot company" perspective, as they'd not be competing with themselves for our $.

I looked through all of that an no pictures of any new minis. Kind of disappointing. I'm assuming they are working on new ones, they even mentioned metal!

The guys in charge are "blackball games". I was surprised to learn they've been involved on the rules for relic knights and Wrath of Kings, and recently acquired "rob & bones". I didn't talk Confrontation specifics so I can't comment on Amusing's response. But, the two guys I talked to are both old-school Confrontation fans and are very excited to be involved in the rebirth of Confrontation. Their website is pretty sparse but they are both very genuine.

Oh, and they will stick to square bases... darnit.

**edit** there were no new Confrontation mini's at GenCon besides the Tir-Na-Bor steam golem.

Not sure why Legacy hasn't gone the Kickstarter route to relaunch with Phoenix? They have the molds to all of the beautiful old figures. When they mentioned the slow pace of their resin reboot the costs are always brought up. It would be so easy to run a Kickstarter with Confrontation, most Kickstarters have large batches of concept art and the like, Confrontation would have some of the greatest sculpted models just in need of some love. I can imagine levels getting different factions, people chipping in BIG money for old favorites and the whole thing being a smashing success. Much like your Rodin sculpture, Confronation's creations are timeless and sure to inspire. Add this to a relaunched rules set to be included and it's a recipe for success.

A friend of mine had talked to one of the demo guys at GenCon and said that they might go kickstarter in November. Of course, third hand info is always to be trusted.

I would be in like Flinn on a Confrontation Kickstarter. That's be worth dropping more than just some change on.

Man... I'm getting excited just thinking about

I totally forgot about the thread from dragonpainting.com from the original CP announcment following gama. The thread stayed live with annoucments from the guys working the CMoN booth doing the CP demos. Also Matt from Black ball Games (working with the rules re-write) signed up and got his updates in there as well.

http://www.dragonpainting.net/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=3615

Also a forum was opened up specific to CP for news and rules updates etc.
