We are going to get a 7 year old husky soon but that\'s because I know the breeder and he\'s retired and can\'t be bred because of a birth defect. other than him I would only have mutts. They are even tempered sweet smart and loyal.

Siberian huskies are beautiful dogs. Although if I\'m ever in a position to own a dog (I have certain criteria that must be met first--space, time, stability, and so on), I\'m heading straight to the local rescue centre to find mine.

Absolutely. Our two puppies were shelter dogs, and they are both healthy, intelligent and very playfully tempered.

Great, now I\'m all sad. I love Huskies, also. Had a half-chow, half malamute when I was a kid.

Best. Dog. Ever.

The last dog I had I had gotten from the Humane Society. Had to give him up when I separated from the soon to be ex-wife. :(

I kind of consider the husky (Chief) to be a rescue. He was going to be put down because he\'s going blind. He is of no ise to the current owner anymore. I\'ve already had him neutered and we know he gets along with the cats (Donna! :) ). He\'s going to be my son\'d dog when we finally have everything settled and the house sold.

That\'s because \"Pedigree\" dogs, cats, etc are essentially inbred :p

Mongrels and mutts have the benefit of a wider genepool and are less likely to have birth defects or develop health problems later in life.

Also, bloodhounds are the only animal able to stand as witnesses in court. :D
(I think this is in some US state - I can\'t remember where)

I love dogs, period. But I gotta say....I\'ve got a little minpin that is probably the best dog I\'ve ever had.

She\'s an eighty pound dog in an eight pound bag.

Oh really.
.....My dog (Chukki) is a Mutt and has the following ailments: Peri-ostial condition on her feet (boney growths on her Meta-Tarsals), Epilepsy, Heart murmur, Enlarged Heart, Sub-Cutanious Fatty Lumps, Liver disease, Cushion\'s disease, Cataracts and Diabeties. (Is flatulence an illness?)
Despite all that lot she\'s a happy little soul, quite content to be around someone in the house or garden and still able to climb the stairs (most of the time) to be beside me while I\'m painting. (although getting down again requires someone to steady her these days) She\'s 12 which because of her size and mix of breeds (Labrador & ?Terrier are in there somewhere) puts her in the 110-120 human age equivilent bracket.
