Ancient King Sculpt

Okay, so there are some models I like and don't like for personal taste/aesthetic reasons, but the Ancient King model is desperately lacking in detail. I especially have a problem with the mask. It is nearly featureless. What should have been a showpiece model now ranks below the models I give my five year old to have fun painting. Does anyone else feel this way, or am I being overly judge mental?

You are being over judgmental, considering it was FREE, is basicaly unplayable, and posed like a statue, which is exactly what i am going to use it for.

I suppose I asked for that, but it is not entirely true that it was free. It only came with certain pledge levels.I would also use it as a terrain piece,I just was disappointed in the quality. For a piece like this I expected it to look like the example seen online is all.

Sorry about that. After a second reading, my response came off a bit harsh. You are correct some may have paid for it and I would understand the disappointment. But I have read statements fom others that the model should paint up fine.

No need to apologize. I did ask if I was being overly critical. It will still be fun to paint. Hell, I might do it in a "stone statue" effect which should remove most of my issues. That would actually be fun.

I'm with the OP that the Ancient King is pretty disappointing. The guy is so spindly and unimposing. Not sure I'm going to spend the time painting him when I've got so many other, cooler models in need of attention.

I had no problem with the sculpt, it matches the art.

can't wait to get some friends together to do 4 battle armies vs the Ancient King. Should be a fun stupid scenario

Is he a playable model then? I thought I saw a card some place, not sure if anything has changed though as his stat card isnt in the download section. :(

He's rank 20 so he can't be played in a regular army.
He's definatly a scenerio gimmick piece

no strikes or crits on his card, just dodges and magic

so definatly a piece for fun
