An experiment - hunter of darkness

Well, to take a break from wolfen, I decided to take this hunter of darkness and work on my leathers.

What started there went into a challenge for me - could I do a whole mini using scorched brown in *all* parts of the mini. It turns out I can!
here it is:

My experiment

as always, my photos and lighting suck... sorry for that

what else... I tried doing a purplish nmm, going from scorched brown+liche purple+shadow gray up to white, using only shadow gray and white for highlights.
The coat is black blended up to graveyard earth (using scorched brown for a midtone, of course), but the photos don\'t show it well.

ooh, ooh, also, the pattern on the inside of the cloak is my first attempt at a freehand thingy :D

well, that\'s all. I\'d love to hear commends and criticsms, as well as some ideas on improving all the stuff I tried here.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this :D

Experimenting is always fun, especially when you like the results.

Scorched Brown (and now CHARRED brown, the Vallejo equivalent) is my most used color. I use it on just about every mini I paint. Its actually a hard habit for me to break. I just like the earthy-ness of it, I guess.

Cool mini!!

I voted a 7. I think its a very good paint job. Some of the blendings are a bit sharp and the face looks very flat but the NMM is coming along. I didnt like the base I dont think it goes with the character maybe a tiled or cobbles base would look better (JMHO). With a bit more high lighting this could be a solid 8. Nice work.
