am I the only one thinking this?

Before I say anything, please note that I REALLY love the game. One of my friend at my local hobby store make me play a game and I imediatly fall in love whit the simplicity, yet very chalanging game.I actualy buy the game a few day ago and cant wait to play whit my friends. I regret a lot that I dint participate to the kickstarter those last few day whit the promotional model comming to north america (I live in canada^^).However, there is something that I find ilogical about some of the character. Here the four female character in the game (Two from Season one and two other from the TCM expention that comming up soon):in order we got Amy , Wanda , Neema and Elsa (The red-head in the last picture.couldn find a better one).See if you can spot the problem.

Cant find it? let me tell you: they wear very skimpy outfit in a zombie apocalips!Would you try to show as little skin as possible?! I guess this is the same thing as to why the girl in Mortal Kombat fight in bikinie (One of my friend actualy explain to me for almost a hour that those outfit are there to distract the oponent or what not). However, I dont think showing skin can help again a zombie invasion.Like I said , this is only a observation, but, still , I cant help but scrach my head about it.I mean , Come on, Elsa going around in a skin thight later catsuit!

I do am aware it is.However, I still find this ilogical^^

And what about all the metal bikinis in the fantasy genre? What about Conan fighting armies in a loincloth? The outfit issue is far from unique to Zombicide. It's a matter of catering to your gaming market. It has nothing to do with in-game reasons.

It is very strange. Are any of the male characters that exposed, or are they all armored and covered up? I wish even one female character had the same level of body armor and protection as the males.

Here's a secret: A lot of female gamers keep away from stuff like this because of things like this.

Actually, with the exception of the girl in the catsuit, the males and females are clothed rather similarly. There's no bikinis (except on the zombies) and no cheese. Just people dressed like they would be on any given day.

It's quite simple, actually.

The men being, you know, manly they arm up and clobber zombies down. That's how men behave. They don't shy a fight.

Female, on the other hand, aren't as violent as men. So they try to avoid fighting zombies (or other) altogether (Sheena the Warrior Princess being an exception here!). The reason to why they wear skinny outfit is that then there is less of a risk that they get caught by the zombies from the clothes. Less clothes, less to grab hold of for the zombies. This is also a reason to why the female really should moisture their entire bodies to ensure that they are even more slippery! Actually, when I contemplate it, the PERFECT outfit for a woman in a zombie-outbreak world would be next to no clothes and carrying a water-hose so that they can sorta do like a wet t-shirt competition.

As for the fantasy stuff (like the second picture in classicGMR's post), I am informed that women wear it because dressing up in costumes is fun. In drawings, miniatures, and artworks like the one you posted, women are depicted wearing it because that is what the artist wants or imagines that the audience wants.

I've played in a lot of games and most of the time there has been at least one female player in the group, sometimes two. I don't know if it's universal, but most of the women gamers I've met don't mind cheesy cheesecake armor so long as there are other options.

The problem with the Zombicide characters is that all of the females are wearing brainless, revealing, sexy, stupid-for-fighting-zombies clothes. The women gamers I know would be okay with this if there were also women characters with armor, protection, and covered skin.

See, I'm going to have to disagree. How is Wanda's outfit revealing, brainless or sexy? She's a waitress at a drive-up diner. That's her work outfit, just like the sheriff or doug. All their characters are stereotpyes, and are dressed as such. If there was a stripper survivor, I could see your point. But nothing the current crop are wearing would I classify as you have.

I suppose it is in the eye of the beholder, and perhaps my judgement is too harsh.

I had considered that particular outfit revealing because her skirt exposes pretty much all of her bare legs. To be fair, those are way less revealing clothes than some other images on this page, but ... well, just what are the criteria for whether a woman's outfit is revealing or sexy anyway? That skirt is about as short as it is possible for a skirt to be without it turning into a mere ruffle.

The women's outfits are brainless because ... fighting zombies with that much skin exposed? Really? You couldn't even find a jacket or a pair of pants somewhere? Or borrowed one of those extra work vests from one of the guys? Or finished buttoning up your shirt?

And sexy because ... cute girl in job-stereotype outfit exposing a whole lotta leg. I kind of thought that was a definition of sexy.

Ah. I apologize for my ignorance. I was going by the cover illustration with the guys in protective work vests and long trousers.

Ones got what appears to be a high-vis jacket on - they really don't provide much protection.

And sure, jeans offer more protection that tights or bare skin, but not much.

Really they're just dressed in their 'ordinary work/every day' clothes, and that's it.

So what they're wearing is entirely dependent on the character they are.

Would they all in reality be wearing more protective clothing?
Well, I know I would.

However then you'd have however many normal people in protective clothing characters.
Not however many individual and easily recognizable character types.

And that is the point - they're caricatures - not realistic representations of what a person would wear in a zombie apocalypse!

Good point Scorpion. I'd also like to note that from a gameplay perspective, a nudist in a hockey mask is better protected than a guy in full riot armor, since the goalie mask is the only item that prevents a wound.
And as a certain currently popular zombie show as proven, no amount of clothing will prevent a bite, and no amount of zombie gore will cause infection. So layering up would be more a concern about modesty/comfort than real protection.
