Hello everyone; I\'ve posted minis on CMON before but never opened myself up to the forums, so I figured I\'d open myself up to the madness.

I did a lot of firsts on this guy, most notably using a wet palette after taking JBT\'s class the weekend before ReaperCon. I actually asked him how he\'d paint this figure in NMM during one of our breaks, and he said, \"I wouldn\'t, I would use metallics.\" I asked him if he were to use NMM, though, how he\'d go about it. He lowered his head and raised his eyebrows slightly in the international symbol of \"Read my lips\" and said, \"I would use metallics,\" followed by a smile of course. I think I should\'ve listened to him at this point. The whites are pretty washed out in the pictures (which are actually kind of bad, I\'ll see if I can snap more tomorrow) but you can see where I put all my highlights and shading at least. It\'s definitely different from my usual style of NMM.
The flaming sword I was never happy with. It started out as orange/yellow flames but the mini devolved into \"Flaming Sword with Paladin\" so I went with the blue instead. The palette was intentionally limited, as even though I originally painted him for eBay I usually let Reaper take photos of minis I do so they can use it on their website and in magazines. I had talked with Ron (their art director) at paint club one week about how he envisioned the model, so I stuck with what he wanted and what I thought would look good. Apparently it worked for him, as Reaper is now the proud owners after some negotiations, which is how yet another mini of mine will be at GenCon next week but not me . At least stop by Reaper\'s booth so you can see just how bad of a photographer I can be.
The side-cloth thingies drove me nuts as well. I kept trying different freehand on them as leaving them blank just looked too weird with how busy the rest of the mini is. In the end I painted on the arrows and lines and called it a day, though if you look at the back shot you\'ll see how I didn\'t continue the line across the stole draped between the shoulders. I\'m such a slacker.
This was my first OSL piece as well. I kept it to a subtle effect, as I was painting the figure kinda bright (outside noon-ish) and knew unless the blades were going nuclear they wouldn\'t gleam all that much in the metal. If I were going to redo him I\'d put him in a dungeon corridor-type setting and really go nuts with the OSL though.
Anyhow, here are five shots of the guy; please give me comments and critiques on how I could improve this guy (besides never, ever trying to do a fake marble base again, not photoing a blue mini on a blue background, and learning how to use a camera, of course ).
