just posted my second mini since my long painting break, its a albion truthsayer i tried to convert into a marauder chieftain, ive actually only done a weapon swap with him but i think ill add a shield at a later date, ive tried to paint him in a much different way than my beastlord my previous mini, and made an attemp at nmm( not a massive fan of nmm, but since my break i wanted to stretch my ltd skills from 1 end of the spectrum to another), would welcome any feedback on him, i think ill probably change the base as well, if i can be arsed, well anyway here he is

ofc votes would be much appreciated as well, :D but comments and suggestions r what id really like

thanks

Like it. The sword is very well done. Don\'t like the base - is that snow GW\'s new stuff? It doesn\'t look right. Definitely put him on another base...

I agree with spacemunkie here the mini itself is excellent but the snow just doesn\'t quite look right. I voted you a 9 anyway.

Looks great, Calab. Been and voted. I would agree with the other posters on the base. Not much to critique beyond that, really.

The base reminds me of shaved ice before you add in the flavoring. :D

I\'ll throw my two cents in and say excellent work as well.

First off nice job. Perhaps a little bit of Chaos iconography would really sell it as a Marauder (some tattoos in the shape of the eight pointed chaos star perhaps) but it’s still a very effective and simple conversion that has been painted to a high standard. I think that a shield would be a great finishing touch too.

Now onto the base. I think the problem is that the snow is too coarse and there is too much of it. Because miniatures are miniature the snow needs to look like it has miniature grain too - more like this rather spectacular effort.

It’s not the new GW snow scatter is it? That stuff is pretty fine. I have some in a ziplock baggie on my desk right now and it looks like a bag of nose candy! Not so good for my reputation as a fine upstanding citizen, but I think it should work rather well on bases. I’m trying it out tonight so I’ll let you know.

You might try sculpting the snow with GS, paint it white, then sprinkle a coat of baking soda over that. What you have looks like the remnants of a feather pillow - too fluffy. The paint job you did is top notch. The fig looks Aztek. Unusual.

ok, ive changed the base on him as i was in total agreement with everyone that it looked horrid(btw it was bicarbonate of soda i used for the snow, thought it was same stuff as baking soda, i think it was my technique with the stuff rather than the material itself that created the horrible effect), i gave up on a snow base and reverted the traditional standing on a rock base, i added a shield and i think it makes him look more marauder like, couldnt really do tattoes as it was already varnished, would have been hard to make them look right over the varnish i think, any way heres the new link , love to know if u think this a improvement, i think it is ,but feedback is always highly appreciated :)
