Air compressor shopping

I was at the local model shop yesterday and noticed they had this:

Price at the store was 40%+ over this price so Mr Internet is looking good so far. I like the form factor. Buuut is it good enough for a little paint shooting?

The other 'internet' compressors that show up a lot are:

and
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Building-r...compressors/Compressors/auction-407373650.htm

Okay one other new one from the same family as the top one:

No tank seems to save a bunch of money but I would guess the flow irregularity would be way more trouble than it's' worth even for my first setup.

Are any of these crap enough to outright rule out? Great enough relative value to jump on it?

I bought one of the tankless jobbies (third link).

It's worked very well until recently - the moisture trap is pretty shot after 2 years bit these are easily replaced. All my sci-fi stuff was done with it (with a cheap Paasche Talon).

The tanked versions look good value. The cheap airbrush you get is actually reasonable too - an Iwata HPC copy.

Well the first one seems to be a very good choice, but the question is, do you really need it? 86 psi is A LOT and why would you need more than one connected airbrush? Personally I would go for the last one. I can't find a modell identifier, but I guess by the looks it could be a FENGDA AS 186. Maybe you can find some reviews and test reports about it online...

The top one is ok if you plan on doing t-shirts.
The next one with the tank is probably quieter.

The other two without the tanks are OK for priming, base coating and clear coating.
You can give them a "tank" by getting an industrial moisture trap and adding it between the compressor and the regulator.
I've got a setup like that. Used it for years and it won't die.

The second link is very similar to the one I've got (to the point of being identical). My gut feeling from reading similar discussions here is that the style of compressor you've linked (links 2, 3 & 4) is a 'generic' brand of compressor and various companies seem to rebrand it. There have been very mixed reports about them however. Me and my brother both have one and have not had any problems at all, still running 2 years on for me and I do abuse it by doing "binge airbrushing". I have read that some people have ended up getting theirs replaced three times in a row before getting a good one.

If you can afford it, go for one with a tank as you should get a more stable flow too.
