Air brush help

I\'m looking to start using an airbrush for my tanks. The only problem are the paints. Are GW paints airbrush compatitable? Does one need to thin them out with water, or future floor polish.

If GW paints don\'t work in an airbrush what are good paints to use?

In terms of alternate paints whats a good equivlent for Midnight Blue and Scab Red.

Thanks for your help

Wag, welcome to the boards.

almost anything can be pumped through an airbrush given enough pressure or enough reducer.

Yes, GW paints can go through your guns fine. Generally, 1:1 water:paint. or even thinner in some instances.

if they start trying to separate, use a bit of airbrush medium instead of water - this will add a bit of binder back to the mix.

What gun(s) you got?

If you only want to paint for coverage airheads advice is dead on.

However if you are looking to apply layers for rust and grime, then it\'s best if you thin down the paints more and use a finer needle. At this point GW is too grainy.
Good paints are Tyama(sp?) and Createx (my favorite).
For airbrushing rust and fine detail I would recommend 15-20psi and thin the paint to a 1:1:1 paint/airbrush extender/water.
For creatix airbursh paints I use a 2:1:1 paint/airbursh extender/water.

Sorry, I did not answer all of your questions.
Vellajo model air (never used them)
Craft Paints once they are thin enough to airbrush, they have trouble with opacity - requiring many coats. But they are dirt cheap and good for terrain.
Testers Master Paints (not bad - they were supposed to have changed their forumula a while back but I haven\'t used them since.)
Createx very good general purpose airbrush paints - my \"go-to\" paints
Createx Auto AirWater based - very similar to regular createx - great.
2-Stage Ureathanes - amazing, but not for the hobbist. The stage 2 clear coat requires good respirators and filtration gear.
Liquitex tube acrylics. Thin with airbrush medium (lots) and you can get good coverage.

Things not to use:
Illistrators inks & paints these are not uv stabil and will fade quickly - especially the reds.
