Aged flesh - Recipes?

I\'m painting an old human wizard, and searching has found nothing for me on painting skin that\'s aged.

Does anyone have a good formula, or suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Well, I took a shot at it.
The base coat is black.
I\'m using Vallejo Game Color for this mini.

I started off with Dark Flesh, 4 parts to 1 part water.
Second coat added 2 parts Dwarf Flesh.
Third coat added 2 parts Dwarf Flesh again and 1 part water.
Fourth coat added 1 part Dwarf Flesh and 1 part Pale Flesh.
Fifth coat added 2 parts Pale Flesh and 1 part water.
Sixth coat added 2 parts Pale Flesh.
Final highlights are solely Pale Flesh, dilluted at about 50/50.

I can speak with some authority on aging. lol

Trying to depict the skin tones on an older person is going to depent a lot on the type of life they\'ve led. An outdoorsman would have a more rugged skin while an office worker may have a more pasty skin.
Personally I\'d add more Bone to your highlights to make them paler and add some shadow washes into the creases with a mixture of your basecoat and purple for under the eyes to give the bag effect more strength.
Mix a touch of Catachan Green into the base colour to tint the creases at the sides of the mouth and at the temples.

But the best way to paint age on a mini is first to study peoples faces.
Look at people when you on the bust, in cafe, in the street. You\'ll soon learn to spot the colours inherent in differing peoples faces.

Hehe. BP have no idea about the skin, but the funny part is that I\'m working on the same mini and so far our color chooses are pretty darn close. What\'s going on here? Damn it! Get out of my mind! :Dlol

Painting duel to the death!

Mud duck and BP...

Two men paint it.
One man leaves.

May the best rating win!

You can also \"age\" figures by emphasizing the lines that radiate 45 degrees out from the base of the nose to the corners of the mouth, and by adding bags under the eyes using a bit of your shade color or a purplish color right underneath the socket/darkline. If you have the brush control for it, crow\'s feet on the eyes work well too.

Good advice but not sure it\'s relevant to this figure lol
D\'oh
lol Don\'t you love it when a Typo gives you a good laugh.
lol

I meant of course when you are on the BUS.

Being on the bust however.........That\'s a tottaly differing observational standard.

\"Being on the bust however.........That\'s a tottaly differing observational standard. \"

Also a much better viewpoint. Likely more comfortable. I misinterpreted the original statement and did a lot of staring at cleavage. It didn\'t help with the mini at all, but I had fun, anyway.

Well, this is sort of a WIP, now. He\'s coming along pretty well, I believe. I\'ve been trying very hard to \'up my standard\' with him, and I\'ve gotten a little bit better with my new camera.

I\'m still having trouble getting the lighting levels just right, but practice will get me there.

But, as regards the \'aged flesh\' aspect, I don\'t know if my camera is good enough to even show the dramatic improvements.
I worked very hard on getting those dark \'half circles\' under his eyes, and then got some major cramps in my hand doing some crow\'s feet around his eyes. I\'m not used to working with that kind of intent on detail.

Anyway... here he is, with a few things left to do, still, before I\'m convinced I\'ve done everything I can. If you have any suggestions or advice, I welcome them.
