A Rough Journey - The Barbarian Dude

Hey folx,

I just finished the Barbarian Dude from Emanuele Giovagnoni. I saw this awesome miniature some weeks ago and had to buy him INSTANTLY. The miniature was quite fun to paint and I wanted to go with the rough color scheme from Simon Bisley, who made the initial template for this miniature (Conan from Simon Bisley).
Nothing more to add, so I hope you like the paintjob and votes and comments would be great. :)

Best regards

Very nice work and I'm sure this will be a template for many of the jobs that will be showing up on this fantastic mini. I got in on the second wave, not here yet. :)

I really like the blue effects on the rocks, sets it off nicely. The blending looks to be top notch. Nice crisp work on the tatoo and the boots look well done- fur can be a challenge but you've nailed it.

The main challenge with this particular piece seems to be creating a focal point. With the face turned down and shaded what would normally be the focal point becomes less so. By setting it on a larger base I think you've made the mini as a whole more of a focal point rather than relying on a particular feature or area of the piece itself. So nice way around that problem.

You got the nail on the head. :)
I find it rather difficult to achieve a focus point on a nearly naked dude, because you have flesh colors all around. Also I like rather big bases, to paint a bigger picture, where the miniature is just a part from something bigger.

Thanks for your comments guys. :)
