Good solid base colours but I would thin those paints out a little more and spend a little more time applying more layers.

The freehand work is real good. I\'d give the metallics a bit more shade (brown/chestnut ink for the golds and blacks/blues/purples for the silvers).

Apart from that, keep it up!

Well i agree with the thining of the paints comment,

I used to paint my ultras the same way, if you use a base coat of regal blue and then a second thin coat of Ultramarines blue and regal 1:1 then a final highlight of ultramarines blue, they will look sweet, my 1500pts ultras army was painted in my first 8 months of painting. not all of them look ghood but the one towards the end look gaming standard, if it is ok with you i will post some piccies of my ultras on your thread tonight? just to give you an idea?

also if you based the models they would definatly look more finished,

BTW i really like the glow to the eyes on the Vet Sarge, how you do it?

Cheers Iain.

I agree with the previous comments on the paint thinning, I won\'t beat that up anymore. I think the pictures are so close-up that the flaws are accentuated. I have the same problem still. The good thing is you seem to be very profficient with the freehand and it is apparent that you are experimenting with several different techniques:
The glowing claws
The glowing eyes
Lots of freehand

It took me a long time before I could work up the courage to try new things. Keep working on these techniques as you are doing well. A couple of things I noticed:

-Try to thin the inks a little more. They are kind of hit or miss on the metallic bits like the iron halo on the chaplain.
-Use spray primer if you can, it looks like you have some lumpiness that may come from brush on primer.
-Try to transition more to the highlights, especially on the black parts. The gray you used is a bit too stark.

This is pretty good work overall and I hope I don\'t discourage you. These are some of the same things I still struggle with. Good luck!
