A cautionary tale....

Sometimes I see or buy a figure with the intention of stripping it and repainting it. (Occasionally it’s an act of mercy for some things on eBay)


NORMALLY I use Dettol, but I was recommended to try BIOSTRIP 20, which I did and was delighted on the results on an old GW Inquisitioner Scale figure.
BUT on resin............just scrubbed this Eaglemoss figure of The War Doctor thinking it’s metal.


It is not!

I've used Biostrip on resin, plastic, and metal with excellent results. Nothing like this blotchy thing you wound up with.

Found out that it will strip resin BUT max 20 mins left in the stuff.

There’s more than one kind of resin, isn’t there?

That’s one of the things that makes me a bit wary of it. Metal has only so many possible variations, mostly boiling down to lead or no-lead. PVC has tweaks but is basically predictable. Resin, one can never be entirely sure.

That is very true. The word resin is used for a wide variety of materials.

Oh, sorry he got ruined. I like him a lot for the statue effect. I do a lot of ww2 miniature gaming and he would be perfect for a statue in a town.

I primed some zombicide Black Plague characters with what I thought was primer. It was an off white glossy finish paint. 3 months in simply green and a month in pinesol did nothing. Nothing like ruining all those kickstarter exclusives. ??????. I have some nice satin off white figures now.
