You are invited to take part in the 2008 Miniatures and Wargames Survey. This survey is designed to gather information from hobbyists regarding how they play and what they are interested in. Like our previous survey, Miniatures Survey - Summer 2007, we have tailored the questions to help find out what your interests are, and have have taken those questions further still in order to get more exact information. Many of the questions are the same from that survey in order to help generate trends over time, as I intend on doing a survey every winter in order to see how things are changing over time.

This survey will remain active until February 29, 2008, at which time the results will be compiled and posted on my website for anyone who would like to see the results. Past surveys will remain available in order to show trends from year to year in terms of gaming interests and other habits of hobbyists. Feel free to repost this announcement everywhere you frequent, as the more people who take the survey, the better the results will be.

In order to take the survey, it does require an email address in order to verify users. The address is not kept with your answers, and it will not be used to contact you or released to any third parties.

So please, take 10 or 15 minutes to fill out the survey and let your voice be heard.

Figure I will go ahead and get this out of the way right off the bat.

Yes, an email address is required in order to take this survey. It is used to generate a unique ID for you, to prevent abuses like what happened with TGN\'s Readers\' Choice Awards this past December.

Your email address though is not stored with your answers, and I will not release it to anyone for any reason.

Ok. I\'ll bite. A little more infomation would be nice. Say, Who\'s the survey for. What is it trying to accomplish. What is this information to be used for (I\'m thinking of a young lady that did the same thing with EQ players for her Pys. Phd). Yes I\'m terribly lazy, and really don\'t wish to have to hunt this information down myself.

Who\'s the survey for.
It is for anyone who would like the information. The results are posted on my website for free to be viewed by anyone who would like to see them (no personal information is listed their though)

What is it trying to accomplish.
Mostly to gather information regarding popular genres, scales and other information for store owners, manufacturers and game developers.

What is this information to be used for
Curiosity, seeing whether or not it is worth taking a risk on a genre of game or specific rule set, finding out what scales are most often used for a given period...lots of stuff. For me, it is mainly curiosity.

Thank you. That\'s what I wanted to know. And please don\'t think me an @##hole, it\'s just in this day and age you never know who\'s doing what with the information that\'s given. And I get enough spam as it is. Plus it is fun to know what it is being used for. That and I am a bit lazy at times :D

Well looking at all of last years results it all seems pretty legit. Anyone who would go to that much trouble purely in order to spam people must have some REALLY important spam lol

Propper Privacy policy, non disclosure policy?

Not being rude but associating this information with my e-mail address may be a real money spinner at some point ;)

I will happily submit information if it\'s assured confidentiality of any personal information.

Cheers,

Joe

Proper how?

A P3 header line? A full on legalese mention of what cookies are and how we will use them - like I use in my webstore?

The policy is that the email address is used simply as a means for you to be given a unique token to take the survey. It isn\'t tied to your answers in any way, and I will not release it to anyone ever.

In terms of money - I don\'t think there is a huge market for mailing lists for miniature collectors. Considering the number of results I am hoping for (2000 or so respondents) and the amount of time invested so far - I would probably make more money selling fries at McDonalds than I would make selling the email addresses that are collected here.

Either way, it doesn\'t make much difference because I won\'t be selling the info.
