Greeting from a cmon virgin :)

i guess this is not really a usual subject for on here but i decided it\'s resin and it\'s got paint on it so why not?

this bust is out of production now but managed to scoop one up recently, it\'s very nice!

under coat is grey auto primer and Paint is Vallejo model colour apart from GW Blood red....

thanks for looking

:)

I\'ve spent a long time looking at this, and to me there is something about it which is \'not quite right\'.
That\'s not a criticism as I think the paint job is exeptional on a large scale bust, just an observation.
The more I look at it the more I seem to think that the Iris/pupil Size is a fraction too small.
If you look at the image below you\'ll see that the iris is roughly on third of the visible eye surface.

What I do really like is the positioning of the iris/pupil giveing the direct indication that he\'s actually looking at something.

EYE SIZE

thanks for the input :)

yeah eyes are something i struggle with alot!

but i have started to paint them slightly undersize for the dramatic effect it gives the face, i tend to paint them too large usually and that gives a very soft look to a face

this being a perfect example :)

that was 6 months ago....

mind now you\'ve mentioned it i\'ll spend the next two days trying to decide what to do about it!

eye altermarations

Dragonsreach... thanks for that :) ... i decided to slightly alter the eyes ( the eyes! ) and think they look better for it :)

Ritual.... yeah i seem to swing between anime huge and gimlet tiny :) solved now though, thanks for the input :)

update..........

so i have done the final touches on the flesh and added a very light highlight.

also slightly larger iris\'s and toned the pink down at the base of the eyeball and blended the lower lid upto the eyeball, looks a bit more natural now ( i hope ) hair is about finished

:)

and here is a shot at a very unforgiving resolution :)

small update.........

been working on the hat and gymnasterka tunic.... probably a touch too green but the final highlights might help :)

hey, id like to give a little input. it seems that this bust has really thick hair, one thing i do when i paint a model with hair that is to thick is paint in and shade the hair so it looks like per giant hair there are more hairs. (right now the sculpt looks like he has a mop on his head lol )

take a look, it may not be for you but it usually looks more realistic afterwards :)

progress.........

adding the insignia always seems to take forever .... uhhh

the cyrillic on the sholder boards is freehand, drew a box to contain the letters and sketched them in ( with pencil ) , lots of cutting in and cutting back got me here.. i aint touching them again. probably :)

It\'s quite refreshing to see a bust on this site (stop your sniggering...kids!). Good work all round, I think you\'ve got a good eye. I find that starting darker and working lighter makes convincing leather. You could glaze back the leather then re-establish the lights.

Good work though, interesting subject, well executed.

Keep us up to date :D

cheers Donga :)

i added several red glazes to the leather and some more highlights, then gave the lot a coat of Klear... mmmmm floor polish ;)

almost there...........

heads now on permanantly and just got a little bit of fiddleing to do and i\'m calling this done, been fun and those sholderboards were a challenge :)
