I have started with 1:72 WWII Luftwaffe personnel by Airfix, 46 plastic models for £5, very cheap, like the old toys from my youth the plastic is very soft and has a wax like feel, so undercoating and cleaning has been really hard, I have found you have to cut the flash off files just rough up the plastic and leave a fur like texture. Undercoating has also been a pain have to really scrub the release agent off and I had to use Vallejo Acrylic Polyurethane primer, my other primer just rubbed off.
Even with the problems I am keen to learn how to paint these, there's a large range and very cheap.
I finished my first 3 and to be honest I had a blast painting such small scale, I was really worried they would be too small, but I managed ok with the size, I don't think I could go any smaller than 1:72 ( figures are around 20mm approx )
I think these turned out ok for a first attempt, but i really want to push it as far as I can go and really make this scale "pop" so if anyone has tips or links to websites that deal with small scale, would be a great help.
Thanks.
