Dwarf Dungeoneer

An old Ral Partha I had in the box of bits; gonna try to plow through those before investing in new stuff... but it's hard not to... hehehh... so many great minis out there right now... although I'm a diehard fan of TRUE 25mm. My first attempt at a handsculpted base. I hope I get better at it. :\ The digital camera doesn't pull punches; it's quite humbling seeing the mini at 3 MegaPixel. Any tips on photographing? The upperend highlights are lost on this one. But at the same time, IRL it's well balanced, IMHO... I don't want to have to resort to over-emphasizing highlights for great pictures, and have the mini be garish and loud when seen in-person. Right now I'm using a plain desk spotlight lamp with a soft white 60W at about 1'. Can a different type of light minimize colour loss?

I recently asked for some tips on lighting (from beestieboy) and he said he uses a three light setup to eliminate shadows and evenly light the whole mini. Your photo is not showing the mini off to its best advantage as it is quite dark. He uses a large sheet of posterboard bent to avoid the join as seen in your shot. I don't know what type of bulbs and distances I guess this is trial and error. Check out beestieboys photo's, they are very good.
