I-Kore CELTOS Mastadon diorama
Yes, I realize this may not look like a Mastadon, but that is what it was called in the Celtos sourcebook! :-) I have included some work in progress pics of this piece in a "discuss submissions" thread, so that you can see the different types of sculpey which were used to create the monstrous creature. He had to be baked several times, so that I could hold the figure at all the different angles necessary to sculpt in the details. I will try to put some larger pics in that thread as well, since I am limited by space here. I know the photos are small, but that's the best that can be done. If you would want to see really big images, you can drop me an e-mail & I will send some to you. The sculpting of the monster was challenge enough, but painting it was much worse! Of course, choosing to make all the armor in bronze NMM was utter insanity!!! It was brutal, but in the end, I was glad I did so. Again, that all shows up much better in the larger images. The figure of the driver had to be heavily converted. He was originally a swordsman. The spear (which matched the original reference picture suprisingly well) actually came from another figure. Hours of filing, cutting and green stuffing went into a relatively small part of the overall piece. As with other dioramas of this nature, some parts of the details were carved in after baking. I had wanted to do this figure for a long time, but even more so when GW came out with the Oliphants. This is just about the same size length and width wise, but not as tall.
