Warhammer 40K Salamanders Vindicator tank

Another fine offering from Forgeworld, and also another commission piece painted for a client. With all the little recesses on this model, exaggerated shading was the way to go, otherwise alot of the detail would not be evident at arm's length. I attempted to blend right up to the edges, going a tad lighter along the edges and on the corners than I usually would, but I think the effect works. The transition ended up near seamless, so no regrets, and I have to say I'm happy with the end product. The bulldozer blade on this bad boy is so large that it was screaming to have something special done to it. Instead of the usual hazard striping, I went with huge stylized flames, something the Salamanders players would truly appreciate. This was painstakingly blended from GW Scab Red, right down to Golden yellow at the bottom, and then given a thin glaze of red and orange inks for more brilliance.

This is definitely a cool mini. I can't give it higher than an 7, though, because there's absolutely no weathering done on it. It looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor! ;) Some good weathering effects would bump it up to an 8.5-9.0.
