I tried to convert at least 90% of my army I wanted to go for a tron look, the intense highlighting was meant to look very intense. My marines are such a proud chapter, that they want to be seen. They believe that a suprise victory, is not a victory at all.

Okay, as far as the highlighting goes, or the brightlining, it needs to be a little more straightlined to get a higher score. Try a little dark wash on the gun to bring out its crevasses more and then highlight with a slightly brighter silver. You'll come out with the same color overall, it just will jump out at you more.
