Gandalf the White

I decided to give him the grey coat he has in the forest of fangorn to make the colour-scheme a bit more dynamic. The painting of the cloak was a result of the thread "Creating a textured cloth look" I was inspired by the works of Sash.Be and Ritual. The cloak has an older, more worn, look then I initially intended, but I like the way it came out non the less. I will definately try out the technique again, just need a bit more practise.. and a new brush. :) The NMM on the sword-hilt came out pretty good also, but it is a bit hidden away in all that grey. What I'm most satisfied with is the face. The sculpt was pretty portrait-like to Ian McKellen (except the nose) and I did my best effort, trying to do it justice. /Sven

This is most likely your best work yet, Sven! I like it very much! Maybe the cross-hatch could be a little more compact, but it still works in the photo. The base is simple, but well done and that's how I like it! :D /Anders

Fantastic! Always nice to see LOTR minis, and this one is a beauty. I'd like to see you do a Gandalf the Grey, as the sculpting on those (by Brian Nelson) is superb. Great stuff!
