First Goblin

This is the 1st mini I've ever painted. Not sure how I feel about it; tips are *greatly* appreciated. Especially for bases, I've got no clue on where to start on that. As frustrating as this hobby is, it is addicting; I want to become good at this. ~ And ladies, when your boyfriend tells you that painting models is just like painting a mural, don't believe them! They're just trying to rope you in :-P ~

Ok for your first post this is excellent and for your first mini it is brilliant. Mould lines are easily missed I stilll miss them from time to time even after 20 odd years of painting minis. The spear head is excellently weathered and your skin tone is also very well done. Try some barker green in the deepest recesses like where the fingers are together and also your black cloth has gone a little too grey. When highlighting black it is best to start your highlights further out towards the higher parts leaving more black showing and some times adding some dark blue to the mix will make it look better. Also your scores will suffer if you do not finish your bases before posting your minis. Fantastic start, keep it up and you will be a top painter in no time at all.

Much better than my first mini! To point out the good: Excellent work for the weathered/bronze spearhead. The wood grain is decent, you just need a thinner brush I think. You also have the basics down of dark, medium, highlight, but really make those darks darker, and lights lighter. It takes awhile to get used to-- I'm still kinda struggling with it. But keep practicing and enjoy! :)
