You've made some nice choices here. For me, figures with this much armor are hard to paint, they tend to be one big blob of armor without any distinguishing features. Using gold and some well placed designs help break-up the homogeneity of the piece. The horns also make the head 'pop' out from the body. Personally I might have painted one of the shoulder pads black (perhaps checkerboard) along with the 'belly' plate. One of the knee plates could also be gold. I can't offer much help regarding the base - mine are pretty run-of-the mill (some gravel and static grass - yawn!). A good piece for sure.
