The Golden Camel Awards 2004
Post Games Day Oz 2004 a gathering of painters was had over in nereby Newtown. It twas a dark and stormy night. Much beer, vodka and Thai food was had. Much gossip was said and during all this the very first Australian Golden Camel [convert, paint and take] competition was had (during dinner). Much Kudos must go to Numbat for thinking up the idea and booking dinner, (oh and sculpting the camel), Dave from Mattise paints for supplying the paints (all of which were claimed as "samples" at the end of the evening), and Paul (redwarf) for supplying the green stuff, priming the models and casting up the wonderful Golden Camel trophy. End of the dinner the judging was done by Dave and I'm happy to say I won with my Smurf 3rd from the right, the only mini of the night to take a swan dive into food during the event. Surely it will be a sure sign for the winning model next year :D BTW the list of illustrious painters was (from left to right goblins): David Redmond, Victoria Lamb, Paul Johnson, Andrew Lum (numbat), Rachel Bothwick, Robert Sakaluk (me), Alan Bothwick, David McLachlan.
