Unit of Horrors of Tzeentch

The first of my two units of Horrors, and one that nearly didn’t make it to a photo! A word of warning children, using a 500 watt Halogen light to take photos can be a bit risky, as even form a good 36” away, it can still produce enough heat to melt a plastic movement tray. Anyways, enough of my own inadequacies and on to the minis, and a unit that more than many of the others, reflects the true nature of the Nameless. It is a weird and wonderful mix of familiars, current GW Horrors, Epic 40K Horrors, some Necromunda critters, Nurglings (I have a very soft, somewhat diseased spot for these little chaps, so versatile that they even provide the Ungor figures for one of my Beast Herds, but that is another story), a couple of OOP Fiend Factory numbers, and last but not least, Sqiggs from various ranges and scales. I have added arms from the new range of GW Horrors to some of the Sqiggs, a straight forward and effective conversion, simply requiring you to cut or file two flat areas either side of the body, the removal of the locating lugs from the Horror arms, and if you are careful, there is no filing required. Try it, it transforms the figure remarkably, and with so many arms (The new Flamer arms would also do the trick) and Sqigg models available, you could probably make 60 or so minis without repetition. All are painted using GW paints, over a white undercoat, with shades of Blue, Blue/Gray and Pinks featuring heavily. I appreciate the style is somewhat Cartoon-like, but I feel that it complements the larger than life style of the figures, though not to every taste. They are based using PVA (Wood working Glue actually), sand and small gravel, available at a fraction of the GW cost from Aquatic/Tropical Fish Centres at about £2.00 for a couple of pounds. I then undercoat the bases with thinned down Humbrol Brown, as I find enamel paints flow more freely into all the crevices in the sand, then dry brushed with GW Snakebite Leather, with Bleached Bone added for successive highlights. I tried the same process with Fortress Gray instead, but it turned out a bit dull for my tastes. Anyway, hope you like them and I would appreciate any thoughts/comments, this being the first time I have ever posted stuff on CMON, and have to thank Yvonne, my wife for providing the courage, Thanks Mr Nameless, XXX

This is a really beautiful collection of uglies:). Thank you for sharing them with us and providing such an informative and entertaining description. You should be very proud of your work. I would be, if I had your talent:)

This is an awesome gathering of miniatures. I can place a couple of these critters but some of them are completely unknown to me - what the heck is the puppet guy in the back (genius!). I'd love to see the 'Nameless' in action, the array of weird minis in the army would have be gawking for hours.

I particularly like the white current-edition Horror in the back rank and the old-style one riding the squig. They look nice in white... who'd've imagined?
