Last Marine standing
This idea crawled around in my sick mind for some time: beleagered marine (with standard) dispatching his assailant(s) in a (very) messy way. Of course, when last stands are concerned, the Crimson Fists come to mind (tip of the hat to the Rogue Trader cover...) although an Ultramarine would be a close second (concerning a tyranid close-up), but i tried to resist the current fashionable trend... the marine had to endure massive cutting and rending conversion-wise and now looks a little more artificer-treated as well as standing in a more practical stance. i don´t know it the heavy use of water effects for a) the water (of course) and b) the slime covering the gaunts´ snouts and talons is discernible in the pic, i think it looks quite nifty in real life at least... Ah, lest i forget: if anyone wants to create a dynamic, curling Flag, i cannot tell how often i cursed the damn thing while paiting it! In the past i used handpainted paper banners (some of them are on show), and was not quite satisfied as they wouldn´t fold realistically, but doing a folded something (cloak, flag, whatever) out of putty/green stuff, and painting it afterwards can be massively frustrating! i had completely forgotten my despair with Slaine´s cloak (pic no. 70271) or i tend to grow senile... ok, i will stop talking now, but only to let you do the talking: i enjoy comments massively (who doesn´t?) so please let me now what you think!
