Kelen, The Thirteenth Voice

Kelen was an experiment with a couple of things. I used Matt Medium throughout, which really smoothed out my blending. It is particularly noticable on the cloak back, which turned out well and I'd highly recommend trying it out. The Matt Medium seemed to lessened the number of levels of colour, but increased the number of painted layers. My other experiment was with freehand. The swirls on the cloak turned out well, though didn't blend as subtley as I had hoped. For that I also used the Matt Medium and really thinned paint. The freehand Elements symbols on the inside of the cloak, was a last minute idea, Kelen being a Druid of the Four Elements and a Mage of Light. The Billhook of Thorns was an attempt to do a Rackham style magic weapon, which was fun to try. Very different from my usual blue glow effect. Kelen presented some fun challenges and experiments and I'm going to keep messing about with the Vallejo's Matt Medium, it's great stuff, as well as work on my freehand. Hope you enjoy him. Comments welcome. Cheers, Darkblade [AAvH-Darkblade]
