Spyglass Inge, the Wet
This was my entry for the Jenova Ego painting contest. I hadn't heard about the contest until three days prior on the CoolMini boards, but luckily I had ordered the Inge model the prior week just because I liked it. It was a great miniature to paint, too, but I totally rushed the work. I always like to experiment with figures, trying new designs or techniques just for the heck of it. This knack for experimenting becomes strongly whenever I enter a contest, oddly enough -- the baby blue Necromancer on my Games Day Atlanta entry, for example, is clearly an experiment. What self-respecting Necromancer wears baby blue? C'mon. Anyway, my experiment here with Inge was two fold. The most obvious is the semi-transparent effect on the clothing. This was my first attempt at doing something like this, and for a first time I'm pretty pleased with it. Her rump came out a bit weird, but what can you do? The other experiment was the base: it's a single piece of plastic that I scribed with a pattern based on some Roman ruins in a recent Archaelogy magazine article. There's static grass, and a bit of dust for texture, but otherwise it's completely scribed lines. Is it anything special? Nah, probably not, but I really love the way it came out. Between the Roman-inspired base and the shiny/transparent effect, I dubbed her "Inge, the Wet Roman." Kep
