Took a different route to most people with this entry to UK Golden Demon 2004. I decided to paint one of the bad guys rather than adding to the sea of Aragorns and Legolases expected (so glad to see an Eowyn winning ;) ). This guy made finallist but didn't place. He's largely unconverted. I just filed away at his staff tip to make it look a little smoother as I thought it was sculpted a bit rough. The skin had an interesting effect. I painted it mid green and highlighted up using Dwarf Flesh. I thought it was abit boring so I glazed some areas with Scab red to make him look mottled. I kind of feel he looks like a mouldy turnip now :) No demon but I'm happy enough with him.

(8.5) Fantastic paintjob, all the areas look really nicely defined. Only thing letting it down is the design of the sculpt, its obviously great but not exciting enough for me to rate it higher and I would have to say it screams more GW than Peter Jacksons lord of the rings which I find odd as all the other LOTR stuff I have seen captures the feel of the film perfectly. This model is a strange one, or maybe its just me being strange - who knows. dfb

Well, you've painted a nice turnip for sure! ;) But that sculpt is rather ridiculous IMHO...
