Iron Golem

2728 from Reaper's Dark Heaven line, sculpted by Sandra Garrity. I modified it so that the arms pivot in their ball joint, and the head can look up, down, left and right.

Thanks for the comments. ;) For the arms, I drilled a hole all the way through the torso from the bottom of one shoulder socket through the other. A smaller hole was drilled into the arm, and a trim nail with a small head was inserted into a short plastic tube and then into the arm hole, like a tire on an axle. The tube ("tire") was then super-glued to the inside of the hole in the shoulder socket, allowing the arms to rotate smoothly. For the head, I cut the ball joint "neck" at the rear of the head down to a spike shape, so that it had more room to move in the neck socket on the torso. I then drilled a small diameter hole about 1/4" into both the head and the torso. Regular copper wire (because it's so ductile) was used to connect the two. In case you were wondering, the rust is simply some GW "scorched brown" (I think that's what it's called), with a little dry dirt powder dusted on the still-wet paint. Some khaki and orange were dry-brushed on in places for highlighting of the rust.

Great Iron Golem atmosphere to this piece; I love the rust coloration. I'd love to know more details on how you got the pivoting arms and neck to work!
