The metal does look good, that's a cool technique :). I think that the magenta coloured cloak looks a bit flat next to the depth you've achieved with the creamier robe though.
It's called non-painted metal. You matte spray a metal mini, then wash it with Vallejo and Tamiya Smoke. After that, highlight the metal with watered down Mithral Silver and Metal Medium. It makes it look very realistic.
