LOTR Barrow Wight

OK, so this isn't new, its from my Barrow Wight diorama, but I have been playing with the camera, and I feel much happier about the shots I'm getting. I feel a lot of people on CMON use their photography to hide the flaws in their minis, so I thought I would take as close a shot as I could, flaws and all. Hopefully this will give people a better idea of how the paint went onto the mini, and help those trying to improve their painting. This guy was painted using the layering technique, with some glazes. The metals were painted in a similar fashion to Jacob Nielson's approach (ie lots of washes), although I used pastels as well to get the grimy rusty feel.

I really like the robes on your BW. The only think is I would have made it's skin much paler to give a dead/rotting affect. However you are a very talented painter, Well Done

I agree with you on the photography statement. Minis look so much better to the naked eye than up close with a camera. On the other hand with the close ups, one can perceive the subtle transitions between colors more distinctly. When I read the book, in my Mind's eye I saw the Barrow Wights as more of a rotting corpse type creature, but it's always great to see what another person conjured up in their Mind's eye. I really like the whole diorama, very memorable.

This guy was my favorite from your diorama. I love the eyes. You have really captured the ancient and rotting feel to a creature that was very regal at one time....
