Night Lords Hero

Well yet another GD for Chicago is coming and of course it looks like I'm going to miss it again. Working for a living can be a real drag sometimes. Well, my work for the last month will not go in vain! My loss is your gain as I'm auctioning off my latest piece which was supposed to be my entry in the Warhammer 40K single mini catagory. A Night Lord's Hero mounted on a large base. I honestly lost count on how many different layers or colors have been used on this guy. Over 20 skulls adorn this sculpt and they have been painted in varying stages of decay and bleaching. With the exception of the skulls, I'm very pleased with this piece. Maybe its a good thing I'm not going to GD this year since I'm not 100% happy with the piece. Those skulls with hair/skin still attached have a tiny hint of purple and red inks added to show bruising to what skin tissues still remain. Done in mainly blues and metallics the layering and shading are done through MANY thin layers. The base depicts ruined SM equipment, and a sculpted/hand painted and tattered Ultramarine flag is used as a focal point for the piece. As usual, the pics suck. I've really got to spring for a better digi-cam. Sorry folks, I shot a good 30 different pics/angles/lighting arrangements. This is the best I can squeeze out of my little 1.3 Kodak. Happy Painting, comments... Anybody????? :-/

It may jsut be the angle, but it looks to me as though the poor sucker is about to fell off. Nearly leaning at a 45 degree angle. The paintjob looks very nice though, I feel you with the crap camera, the tutorials on this site helped my photos greatly, and they've started to look quite nice, if a little off, thats ok :)
