Reaper Amyrith Elmlighter on sculpted base by James

Call this the Woodland scenics special :-) I had been itching to do a waterfall for months, and this was my first shot. It does add a few days to the process of getting it done, since you have to let things set up overnight. It took three days just on the water effects as a result. The rocks and tree were done in the usual way, with lots of meta armatures, and using my rock collection to press the texture into the sculpey. I used an entirely different method of foliage on this piece. It was a combination of three foliage types, all from Woodland Scenics. Having the foliage along with the waterfall complicated things greatly, since I had to worry about digging the "fallout" from the nooks and crannies of the fake water! They kept wanting to stick to everything. Also, it had to be strong enough to survive being shipped. For all the work involved on this diorama, I was happy with the final result. I am posting three different views of this piece, so please no comments asking for more pics! :-)

This looks potentially "ok", however, the image does not show the tree detail at all well and the canopy looks like lichen - and lichen is not a good way to mimic tree canopies other than at long distance. If its "foliage-clusters" and/or "tree foliage" from WS then it isn't applied well as it looks like lichen, is too "clumped" and unrealistic. The tree trunk and branches look good - shame the detail can not be seen properly to really judge. We specialise in miniature trees, so forgive me if I sound a bit harsh - if you want better looking trees avoid WS products and use tree wire, flexi-bark, seafoam tree formers and ground-latex scatters from a company called green scene - the resulting trees are ultra-realistic museum quality. The rock and water look very good but, again, the image doesn't show enough detail. The overall design of the piece is really good though, the layout and positioning of the components. Real shame no proper detail can be seen.
